The Platform forms part of CIVICUS, the Worldwide Alliance for Citizen Participation. It consists of an international organisation made up by a thousand members from a hundred different countries who work to strengthen citizen action and civil society.

The United Nations Global Compact is an initiative proposed by the United Nations. Its objective is to achieve a voluntary commitment from entities regarding social responsibility by introducing the Ten Principles based on labour, human and environmental rights and the battle against corruption. The Social Action NGO Platform contributes to their work by publishing progress reports.
